Injured Israeli Pilot Noam Gershony Wins GOLD at the 2012 Paralympic Games
In 2006, 23 year old Israeli Pilot Noam Gershony suffered severe injuries when his Apache helicopter crashed in the 2006 Lebanon War; though left paralyzed, he miraculously survived. 6 years later, he wins Israel’s first Paralympics gold Medal in London in the Quad wheelchair tennis tournament.
The now 29-year-old, with the toughest mentality, burst into tears as the anthem was played and the Israeli flag was hoisted high. “I never thought I would have the chance to represent the country and certainly never believed that I would be able to bring it such honor.” Gershony said.
For those that don’t speak Hebrew, Noam Gershony now means “Hero” in any language!
